Annual Vehicle Distance Traveled. The dataset provides information on annual highway travel in the United States. This is broken down by State, functional system, highway category, vehicle type, and other variables.

Highway Travel: Functional System Length and Federal-AID Highway length

Public transit is a critical part of the economic and social fabric of metropolitan areas. Nearly 30 million trips are made every day using public transit. Almost all of these trips occur in the nation’s 100 largest metro areas, which account for over 95 percent of all transit passenger miles traveled. People take transit for any number of reasons, but one of the most common is to get to work.

Travel on all roads and streets changed by +0.1% (+0.2 billion vehicle miles) for April 2023 as compared with April 2022. Travel for the month is estimated to be 256.1 billion vehicle miles. The seasonally adjusted vehicle miles traveled for April 2023 is 267.0 billion miles, a +1.2% (+3.2 billion vehicle miles) change over April 2022. It also represents a +0.1% change (+0.2 billion vehicle miles) compared with March 2023.
