Between 2013 and 2015, there was a slight annual decrease of 0.7%, going from 9,745 to 9,602. It can be verified that this decrease is not registered in all the counties. It is clear that the councils with the most assistance of health professionals are those where there are central and regional hospitals.

According to INE data on population projections from 2010 to 2030, the population of Cape Verde in the period 2012-2016 grew at a rate of 1.23%.
