National Institution for Transforming India-NITI Aayog

The National Institution for Transforming India, also called NITI Aayog, was formed via a resolution of the Union Cabinet on January 1, 2015. NITI Aayog is the premier policy ‘Think Tank’ of the Government of India, providing both directional and policy inputs. While designing strategic and long term policies and programmes for the Government of India, NITI Aayog also provides relevant technical advice to the Centre and States.

      Title: Child Labour (age 5 to 14)   Description: Child labour refers to the employment of children in any work that deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and that is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful. Data contains the percentage of de jure (According to the Law) children age 5-14 years, who were engaged in household chores, family work or in paid/unpaid work for an someone who is not the member of the household.       Title: Average Daily Wage Rate in Rural India   Description: The daily wage rate data received from the different villages are first normalized for eight hours working day and then the simple arithmetic average of these normalized daily wage rates is worked out. State-wise averages are restricted only to those occupations where the number of quotations is five or more in order to avoid inconsistency in wages paid to different categories of workers on account of difference in number of quotations. The average wage rates at all-India level are derived by dividing the sum total of wages of the measured states by the number of quotations. At all-India level also, the number of quotations for working out occupation-wise averages are restricted to five or more. State-wise as well as All-India average daily wage rates in respect of agricultural and non agricultural occupations in Rural India have been furnished in data.
