Population projections illustrate how the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population would change in the future as a result of certain assumptions. This dataset presents 10 scenarios, comprising combinations of different rates of fertility (x3), paternity (x3), mortality (x3), interstate migration (x1) and overseas migration (x1).

Australia: Population clock component data This dataset contains data used in determining the ABS Population Clock. The data is annual data updated quarterly, and is based on past component data published in Australian Demographic Statistics (cat. no. 3101.0) with the net overseas migration estimate drawing on information provided by the Department of Home Affairs. These data are produced for the population clock only, and do not constitute official ABS projections.

Business and Financial Statistics of Australia, by Region

The strategy integrates the collection and quality assurance of data required for input into both the ABS’s Business Characteristics Longitudinal Statistics (BCLS) and the production of point in time estimates for: use of information technology; innovation; and a broad range of other non-financial business characteristics. A more detailed set of items of either business innovation or business use of IT are collected every second year (i.e. in alternating years).

The estimated resident population (ERP) is the official measure of the Australian population. This dataset contains annual ERP by country of birth, age and sex at the Australia level. Australia: Interstate migration: Arrivals, departures and net, State/territory, Age and sex - Financial years, 1996-97 onwards Net interstate migration (NIM) is the difference between the number of persons who have changed their place of usual residence by moving into a given state or territory and the number who have changed their place of usual residence by moving out of that state or territory. This difference can be either positive or negative. This dataset contains annual NIM estimates by age and sex at the state/territory and Australia level.

  Preliminary estimates derived from a sample survey of private businesses. Contains estimates of actual and expected new capital expenditure by type of asset (new buildings and other structures/equipment, plant and machinery) and by selected Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification industries. These statistics are expressed in current prices and chain volume measures, in original, seasonally adjusted and trend terms and are available for Australia and by state/territory.
