Final legal dissolution of a marriage, i.e. the separation of husband and wife, which gives the parties the right to remarriage under civil provisions, religion or otherwise, and in accordance with the laws of each country. The figures refer to divorces by state of registration. Divorce procedures are classified according to whether divorce was requested by mutual consent (voluntary), or if any of the members of the couple filed a lawsuit for cause as defined in civil code of each state (judicial divorce).
